Summer Date Ideas

July 14, 2016

Summertime means long days, warm nights, and plenty of opportunities for super fun dates! It’s the perfect time for you and your guy to get outdoors, go on adventures, and make new memories. I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something so romantic about summer! Whether you’re going on a first date or you’ve been with your boyfriend for years, it’s always nice to try out some new ideas. If you’re struggling to come up with date ideas this summer, here are a few of my favorites that I know Dave and I will be doing!

1. Daycation

Save some major $$ on a plane ticket and have a mini vacay at a hotel in your city! Most hotels have day passes that allow you to use their amenities for the day. Cocktails by the pool? Yes, please!

2. Sunset Picnic

Whether you’re at the beach, at a scenic vista, or at the park, a sunset picnic is going to be romantic no matter what. Pack a bottle of wine, some fun appetizers, and you’re set!

3. Outdoor Movie

You can go old school and hit up the drive in, or check out some local spots that might be hosting outdoor movie events near you! Bring popcorn and cozy up with a blanket to make it extra romantic.

4. Dinner Cruise

If you live somewhere near the water, you’ll most likely be able to do a dinner cruise/booze cruise of some sort. Dave and I did one last year, and it’s seriously so fun and romantic. A must do! (If you’re in San Diego, this is the one we did)

5. Beach & Ice Cream

It sounds too simple, but nothing beats strolling on the beach with an ice cream cone in hand.

6. Rent Kayaks/Jetskis

Summer is all about being by the water, so rent a kayak, jetski, or boat, and get out there!

7. Learn a Sport Together

If you’re feeling sporty, try learning a new sport with your guy like tennis or surfing. Even if you’re terrible, it’ll make for funny memories!

8. Wine & S’mores Night

Nothing says summer like s’mores, am I right?! Stay in on a Friday with a bottle of pinot and some marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate. If you’re lacking a fire pit, just roast them over the stove (I won’t judge).

9. Cocktails at a Rooftop Bar

Get dressed up and grab fancy cocktails and a rooftop bar in the city! Take advantage of the long, warm evenings while you can.

10. Farmer’s Market and Brunch

There’s always something new to see at the farmer’s market. Wake up early, grab coffee, and stroll around your favorite local vendors! Build up an appetite (don’t eat too many samples!) and stop for brunch and mimosas afterwards.

11. Do Something You Both Haven’t Done

This is very vague, but it’s a good one! Find something that neither of you have done (for example, neither Dave or I had gone to a polo match) and cross it off your bucket lists together. Whether it be going to a polo match or jumping out of a plane, it’s definitely going to be memorable!

12. Play Tourist in Your City

Embrace where you live! Go to any museums, zoos, or typical tourist spots. Even if you’ve lived there your whole life, there’s probably something new to see and explore!
