Last Saturday Dave and I headed out to the mountains for a little drive to Julian (if you’re not familiar, Julian is a cute little mountain town about 1.5 hours outside of San Diego). Since I was exhausted from the week, I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to go, but Dave talked me into it and I’m so glad he did! It ended up being such a perfect fall day.
Our first pitstop was just outside Ramona at the Mountain Valley Ranch pumpkin patch. We didn’t even plan on going here, but had to stop once we saw it! I didn’t think I was going to get a real pumpkin patch experience this year since I just picked up my pumpkins from TJ’s and Home Depot, so I was a happy camper. It was pumpkin heaven!
After the pumpkin patch, we continued on to Julian. Julian will always have a special place in my heart, since I’ve been going up here since I was a baby. My parents had a cabin in the surrounding mountains for years and years. About 10 years ago it burned down in a fire, which was seriously heartbreaking. I miss it SO much, but I love coming back to Julian and the mountains as much as I can.
We of course had to stop for some famous Julian apple pie! I’m not saying it’s the only reason to go to Julian…but kind of. My favorite is the apple boysenberry crumble. It’s the best.
After our pie, we poked around a few antique shops in town. Well, I poked around, haha!
How freaking cute are all these blue and white dishes?! I wanted everything!
We found a couple of trees with colorful leaves and I WAS SO HAPPY. Two trees is about as fall as it gets in Southern California, so I take what I can get, haha!
On the way back from Julian, we stopped at Milagro Winery outside of Ramona. We went here once before, but didn’t end up staying because it was too crowded. This time, we practically had the place to ourselves! It was so nice to sit on their gorgeous patio and relax with a glass of wine. Wine tasting is definitely one of my favorite things to do!
It was so nice to get out of the city for a little while and go for a little adventure. It doesn’t really get better than this for a fall Saturday. It checked everything off the list: pumpkins, pie, fall leaves, and wine. I think it was exactly what the both of us needed!
