2017 New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year!! I am so excited and ready to kiss 2016 goodbye and focus on a new year. I’ll admit that 2016 was just not my year. I learned a lot, but it was pretty rough. There were a lot of tears, I’m not going to lie! Life is a series of peaks and valleys, and I think last year was a valley and this year is definitely going to be a peak. I’m also hoping 2017 is going to be my year because 17 is my lucky number! Me, my dad, and my half sister were all born on the 17th, I’m the 17th person in the family on my mom’s side…like the list goes on. Seriously, from my college dorm room number to my order number at In-N-Out, it’s always 17 (also the reason behind my blog name!).

I know some people aren’t into resolutions, but I actually love them. I always find that I have plenty of things I want to work on, and a new year is the perfect time to get motivated and inspired to actually do them. I especially like writing my resolutions down, because I can reference them when I’m in a rut in the middle of the year. This year I really want to focus on my health and happiness. Cheers!!

My New Year’s Resolutions:

1 // Stop stressing so much

I stress out about pretty much everything, and I’d reeeeally like to start working on it more. I want to stop wasting my time and energy stressing about things that haven’t happened or probably won’t happen! My stress has been the source of a lot of health problems for me too, so I’m very motivated to kiss my stress behind.

2 // Meditate more

This goes along with the above. I want to start meditating regularly to help clear my mind and ease my stress and anxiety. Plus, meditating will be a great way for me to unplug, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day!

3 // Start actually budgeting

Budgeting was a little interesting this year considering I bounced around from internship to internship and had long periods of only part time work. This year I want to really dive into proper budgeting and work on my getting my savings in order!

4 // Get a job

This has been my #1 stress for the past year and a half. Once I get settled into a new job, this insane pressure and stress I’ve been feeling will be lifted. I’m on the brink of getting something, so hopefully I can cross off this resolution soon!

5 // Get back on the work out train

2016 was HORRIBLE for me in terms of working out. I didn’t gain a ton of weight or anything, but I just feel overall unhealthy. I have absolutely no excuses other than that I was lazy and unmotivated! I’ve already started working out regularly again and it feels amazing.

6 // Go with the flow

I’m a total type A planner, so sometimes I have a hard time going with the flow, which I really want to change. I also tend to get upset easily when my plans fall through, and I really want to work on becoming more forgiving of myself in these types of situations.

7 // Try more new things

I was thinking about this the other day- the last time I really tried something new was skiing last January. This year I want to start getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things! Whether it’s taking a cooking class, workout class, or hobby, I want to start branching out more.

8 // Read more

Reading is one of my favorite things to do, and yet I rarely make time for it anymore. I usually scroll through Instagram before bed, and I’d like to change that habit and read instead!

    Ugh, I LOVE NY resolutions! Lol. Its seriously my favorite time of the year! And I second the stressing out less. Even though stressing literally never helps, its such a bad habit that I’m guilty of too.

      Haha resolutions are the best!! And yes, stressing less is so necessary but so difficult sometimes.
