2017 was a big year for me in terms of growth. I made lots of changes, began my professional career, and started really “adulting”. I actually crossed a few things off my resolutions list from last year, which I’m pretty happy about.
I have bigger and better expectations for myself in 2018, and I’m so excited for what’s to come. I’m working on a list of goals that I’ll share next month (or next year, if you will), which I’ll share soon, but here are my resolutions for 2018. I’m limiting myself to just a few main ones that I REALLY want to focus on.
1 // Focus on Mental Health and Wellness
I included some similar items on my list last year, and hardly made any progress. This year, I really want to work on my overall wellness, get better at managing my stress, and learn to be more calm/mindful in general. My stress/anxiety really gets the best of me a lot of times, and I’ve had enough. As cheesy as it is…positive vibes only is going to be my 2018 motto. I got a head start and downloaded Headspace, which I’m going to start asap. I just got a new journal and started a daily gratitude journal, which I can already tell is going to be immensely helpful. I’m going to incorporate oils and herbal remedies into my routine and get an oil diffuser to help combat stress. I’m going to make January my “wellness month” so I can really go all in with it.
2 // Get My Finances in Order
It’s hard to really save much when I barely make enough to pay my bills. But now that I’m also working for Stitch Fix, I have a bit more money to put towards savings and things like travel. Since I have a little extra money, I want to really sit down and make a financial plan this year, including getting my savings account in order and also starting a dedicated retirement fund. It’s a daunting task, but one I really want to get done as I continue my professional career.
3 // Get Out of My Comfort Zone
You can’t really grow unless you step outside of your comfort zone. I’ve always known this, but never truly realized it until this year. I’m not going to lie, I try to avoid leaving my comfort zone as much as possible. Usually I only leave when forced. This year, I want to really push myself as much as possible to GET OUT of that comfort zone. Whether it’s trying something new, traveling somewhere unexpected, taking a risk, or moving to a new city, I don’t want to let myself get comfortable.
Happy New Year!
