La Jolla Lunch

February 4, 2016

La Jolla is hands down one of my favorite places in San Diego. Whenever someone comes to visit, I always take them for a stroll along La Jolla Cove. It’s such a quintessential San Diego spot, with it’s stunning ocean views that just never get old! Plus, I love it so much more in the winter– it’s less crowded and it’s usually sunnier than in the summer (June gloom is no fun).

Last week we set off to La Jolla for a walk, some sunshine, and lunch. It was one of those warm in the sun, chilly in the shade type of days, so I threw on a sweater (I’m a huge baby, okay?!) and white jeans to make the look feel slightly more beachy. I ended up really loving this navy, white, and burgundy combo!

Now onto our lovely meal! We popped into Brockton Villa for a taste of their Restaurant Week menu, and it didn’t disappoint! Brockton Villa is a classic La Jolla restaurant that will always be one of my favorites. You just can’t beat the view! But the real reason you go to Brockton Villa isn’t just for the views…. it’s for the Coast Toast.

It’s just French Toast, only a million times better and the best thing you’ll ever eat. It’s so good, they serve it as dessert with ice cream for lunch and dinner.

We tried to make it ourselves once and although we followed every instruction, it just didn’t taste the same. I’m convinced they don’t tell you a secret ingredient just to make you come back!

Brockton Villa has a pretty great history, too! It was built well over a hundred years ago when all of La Jolla was just a bunch of beach bungalows.

Start off with a Bloody (thank me later).IMG_9839

I ordered the Portabello Mushroom Sandwich and it was divine! Not the most photogenic item, but it was delish.IMG_9849

The salmon BLT was just as delicious.IMG_9850

As were the breakfast tacos! IMG_9851

Now for the main event…. the Coast Toast. This is the small dessert portion served with ice cream, and I know it doesn’t look like much, but TRUST ME. It is life changing.IMG_9860

So. Gooey.IMG_9861

Almost gone… (don’t worry, we ate the whole thing).IMG_9862

The view’s not bad, either.
IMG_9863 Grab yourself a Bloody Mary and take it all in.

  • I’m actually going to San Diego this weekend! I think we’re going to do our own little brewery tour, though, since there are so many great ones there! But such good suggestions, and my cousin lives in La Jolla so maybe she’ll want to stop for some of that world famous French toast!
