Favorite Wineries in Temecula

May 17, 2016

I’m going to be honest, wine tasting is hands down one of my favorite activities. Going to school in San Luis Obispo started my love affair with wine tasting- we’d drive 10 minutes down the road after class, pack a picnic and wine taste our afternoons away (senior year was pretty chill). In my opinion, there’s really nothing better than spending the day in beautiful wine country! SLO/Paso Robles wineries will always have a soft spot in my heart, but now that I’m back in San Diego, Temecula wine country is the next best thing. Temecula is a perfect little getaway for anyone in SoCal! It’s a little over an hour from San Diego, and is well worth the drive. Although it’s not Napa Valley or anything, Temecula is full of an array of different wineries from small boutique family owned places to some pretty well known names! Dave and I drove up to celebrate our 1 year anniversary (crazy, I know!) a couple weeks ago, and had a blast. Now that I’ve been up to Temecula a few times, I thought I’d share my favorite spots with you!

Hart Winery

This is one of the first wineries once you pull into wine country, and is definitely worth a stop. It’s pretty small inside, but has a homey, family feel that is so comforting compared to some of the more sprawling wineries. Plus, their wines are absolutely amazing! Get the Petite Sirah and thank me later.

Callaway Winery

Callaway is one of the biggest names in Temecula, and can be found in grocery stores pretty much everywhere. Even thought it’s a big commercial operation, I think it’s fun tasting wines that I can find in the store- I feel like such a wine connoisseur next time I’m in the Trader Joe’s wine aisle. Plus, Callaway is stunning and modern inside, and has a gorgeous view from their hilltop location!

Lorimar Winery

This little gem is one of my new favorites. Lorimar has a castle like feel and a pretty outdoor space (not to mention a delicious sparkling rose). Not only do they have great wine, they also have a 2-for-1 coupon you can use for tasting! So quit your wine-ing (get it?) and head on over! The coupon is on the Temecula wine map, so make sure to pick one up before you go.

Miramonte Winery

Miramonte is a super fun spot that has live music on the weekends starting at 7pm. If you’re going on Friday or Saturday, I’d highly recommend ending your day here- they have a great little restaurant, so you can listen to live music while munching on some delicious flatbread! There’s also an adorable winery dog that runs around, which made me love this place even more. Oh, and their wine is delicious too. 😉

Bel Vino Winery

Bel Vino has amazing vineyard views and a fun outdoor patio that’s perfect for warm summer days. This winery also has a family feel to it, which I really love. Bel Vino also has a 2-for-1 coupon (print it on their website or take it from the winery map) that you should definitely take advantage of. A day of wine tasting can definitely add up, so use those deals when you can!

Churon Winery

This winery is perched atop a gorgeous hill, and has a very French, European style feel to it. If you go before 2pm on weekdays, tastings are only $6! If you’re looking for somewhere budget friendly, this is definitely a great go-t0.

Have you been to Temecula? What are your favorite wineries?
