I haven’t done a San Diego post in a while, so here we go! I’m not going to lie, I love going out to eat and trying new restaurants. It’s probably one of my favorite things to do. When people ask me what my hobbies are, I’m like…going out to eat? Is that weird?! Ha! There are so many great restaurants popping up all the time in San Diego which makes it super easy to try new spots all the time.
There’s no better excuse for going out than for date night! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite date night spots from casual to super fancy. These spots are of course perfect for non date nights or girls nights too! Whether you live in San Diego and need to get out of a restaurant rut or are on vacation, these are the date night spots you shouldn’t miss. There’s a little bit of everything on here! I know this list is a little on the long side, but it was SO hard to narrow it down. I didn’t want to miss any! That being said, these are my absolute favorites that you can totally wow your significant other with. Also, all of these spots serve lunch, which would be perfect for a weekend day-date (and save you some $$)!
Panama 66 // Located in Balboa Park, it’s the most gorgeous outdoor patio setting with twinkle lights, live music, and a fun casual order and sit atmosphere. Perfect for a warm summer evening!
Underbelly // My absolute favorite ramen! Even though it’s super casual, both locations have a cool modern vibe that totally works for a casual date. They’ve always got amazing new beers to try, too!
Crack Shack // Maaaaybe don’t go here on a first date. Fried chicken gets messy. But boy oh boy is it GOOD!
Puesto // The interiors are super fun and the margaritas are great. It’s the perfect weeknight date spot to grab tacos if you want something more than a taco shop but not a full on sit down place.
Alexander’s on 30th // One of my fave spots tucked away in North Park! Think sleek all white interior, candlelight, and delicious Italian food vibes.
Coasterra // The views of downtown are UNREAL and so romantic! Get the ahi tuna tostada and thank me later. Nothing like a couple of margaritas and a view for date night! I hear they also have brunch, which would be amazing.
Herringbone // The stunning interior (picture trees inside, twinkle lights, magical) is worth a trip alone, but the oysters and delicious fish options seal the deal. Oh, and they have $1 oysters every day from 4-6 and all day on Mondays. Just saying.
Kettner Exchange // The atmosphere alone is worth every penny. Ever since it opened two years ago, it’s been THE place to be on a Friday night. Dress nice and swanky with your s/o and order a rum cocktail!
Catania // Their pizzas are to die for, and so is the octopus! The views of La Jolla are just the icing on the cake. They have an amazing happy hour, too!
Piatti // This gem is tucked away in La Jolla shores and only steps from the beach. Perfect for a beach walk before or after dinner! It’s one of my favorite places for Italian, and their bread/sauce is THE BEST.
Ironside // One of my all-time favorite spots. Hands down. The interior is incredible, the cocktails are strong, and the food is SO good. The mussels are perfect for sharing on a date!
Madison // LOVE this spot for a date. The inside of the restaurant is truly spectacular, and the menu is full of twists on classic dishes and so so good! Swing by Park and Rec next door for a nightcap.
Cucina Urbana // Ugh this spot is just so good. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, and the inside is so romantic! They have the best mood lighting.
Cafe Chloe // The moment you step inside, you will feel like you’ve been transported to France. You really can’t go wrong. If you’re looking for a romantic atmosphere to split a bottle of wine, this is it!
Mr. A’s // If you’re going to go all out, you should definitely go to Mr. A’s. The views are absolutely unbeatable, and you’ll have a meal/dining experience you won’t forget. It really is the best.
George’s at the Cove // SUCH a worthy splurge. The views of the cove are absolutely to die for, and their food is simply incredible!
For you locals out there– what are your fave date night spots? 🙂
