A Day in LA

February 6, 2017

Happy Monday! It’s been raining pretty much all day again here in San Diego. So weird, but we definitely need the rain (and I personally love it) so I’m not complaining! Over the weekend, Dave and I headed up to Los Angeles for a quick one night stay to visit hisย family. His sister lives in LA, so it’s nice to be able to go up every now and then and explore a bit of the city.

I have a running list on my phone titled “LA To-Do List”, so every time I’m up there I try to cross off at least one thing on the list. If I’m being honest here, 90% of my list is restaurants and coffee shops, haha, but there are a bunch of non-food related things that I want to do too. I’m happy to say that I crossed off two of them this weekend!

The first one was the Los Angeles Flower District. This had been on my list FOREVER, so I was super excited. The flower obsessed girl in me was basically in heaven! There were more roses and hydrangeas than I’ve ever seen in my life. It was magical! We had a full day planned, so I couldn’t really get anything since I didn’t want to leave them in the car. It broke my heart not to buy any of these beauties!! The flower market was amazing though. It’s crazy how many different shops there are!

Our next stop was actually a food recommendation from Dave. Surprising, I know! Usually anything having to do with food is up to me, but I let him take the reins and guys…he didn’t disappoint. We went to Philippe, which claims to be the home of the french dip sandwich. I went with classic beef and oh my god it was good! We also got a piece of lemon meringue pie (homemade, I might add) because I mean…we just couldn’t resist. I didn’t even have time to snap a photo– we ate it that fast! If you’re looking for some classic comfort food, Philippe is the place.

Our last stop of the day was the Griffith Observatory! I’d wanted to check out Griffith Park and the Observatory for years now, and after seeing La La Land, I knew I had to go the next time I was in LA. Well, we finally went and boy was it amazing. The views are absolutely unreal! Not only do you get an incredible view of downtown, but you get an amazing view of the Hollywood sign, too. The Observatory itself was also really cool to check out! There were so many interesting exhibits- I wish we could have had time to see them all. There were also tons of hiking trails in Griffith Park which I really wish we could have done! Just gives me a reason to come back, I suppose. ๐Ÿ˜‰
